Major Organizations

The Appraisal Foundation

The Appraisal Foundation establishes standards for appraisals via the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and sets qualification criteria for appraisers via the Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB). All appraisals completed by our firm are prepared in conformity with USPAP.

California Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers (BREA)

Real estate appraisers are licensed at the state level. Gregory P. Wingerd and John G. Wingerd are licensed with the California BREA, and our appraisals conform to the criteria and guidelines thereof.

Appraisal Institute

The Appraisal Institute is an international association of real estate appraisers, with over 20,000 members. The Institute has been in operation for over 90 years. It provides education and professional development, credentialing, and conducts advocacy on behalf of appraisers globally. Gregory P. Wingerd holds the MAI (Member Appraisal Institute) designation of the Appraisal Institute, which is the industry's most prestigious accreditation for real estate appraisers. Gregory P. Wingerd also holds the SRA (Senior Residential Appraiser) designation of the Appraisal Institute.

American Society of Appraisers

The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is another major professional organization for appraisers, with over 5,000 members. It provides education and accreditation for appraisers. Gregory P. Wingerd holds the ASA-Senior Real Property designation of the American Society of Appraisers.

CoStar

CoStar is the industry's premiere source for commercial sale and rental data, and also provides detailed market insights. CoStar is a primary data source used for research in our appraisal practice. Subscription required for access. 

 

Loopnet

https://www.loopnet.com

Loopnet is an on-line marketplace for commercial leasing and sale listings, and is now owned by CoStar. This source is regularly used in our appraisal practice. Subscription required for full access, but for-sale and for-lease listings can be viewed by the public.

 

California Regional Multiple Listing Service (CRMLS)

https://go.crmls.org/

The regional MLS is a primary data source used for residential and multi-family sale and listing data, and to a lesser degree also for commercial appraisals. Membership is required for access.

Redfin

https://www.redfin.com/

Redfin is a private company that allows the public to search for listings and sales of residential properties, as well as multi-family. It has a user-friendly interface and contains much but not all of the information available in the MLS. 

Crexi

https://www.crexi.com/

Crexi is an on-line marketplace for commercial sales and listings that seeks to compete with Loopnet and CoStar. Some basic for-sale and for-lease listings can be viewed by the public, but a subscription is required for full access. 

Gordian/RSMeans

https://www.rsmeansonline.com/

RSMeans is a source of construction cost information, offering cost books and on-line cost estimating software for residential construction. Subscription or purchase required.

Marshall & Swift

https://www.corelogic.com/mortgage/appraiser-solutions/marshall-swift/

Marshall & Swift Valuation Service is another source of construction cost information, likewise offering cost books and on-line cost estimating software. Subscription or purchase required.
